Roles & Responsibilities

The Director of Modular Operations needs to be a visionary / change agent / inspired and motivated by modular construction.  This individual will lead the research and development efforts to revolutionize the homebuilding industry and bring Van Metre into the future of building their homes in a factory setting. It is a tremendous opportunity to collaborate with the best in the business to make this happen. Responsibilities will include establishing, executing, and maintaining initiatives in modular home production. This person will manage the daily operations, quality, budget, safety, and employee relations at the Kent Street production facility.

Position Summary

  • Establishes operational standards for production, cost control, waste reduction, quality control, schedule adherence, delivery coordination and safety.
  • Collaborates with the design, architecture, purchasing, construction, and manufacturing teams to execute the vision of the modular initiative.
  • Recommends and implements strategic changes in manufacturing processes and home building techniques.
  • Builds, develops, and manages the plant operations team.
  • Evaluates inventory needs and plans accordingly.
  • Evaluates facility needs and plans accordingly.
  • Manage the plant operations budget to ensure compliance with organizational expenditure requirements.
  • Conducts daily inspections of the progress and maintains daily logs to track attendance and performance.
  • Responsible for ensuring that proper maintenance is conducted on the fleet of vehicles and trailers associated with the modular operations.
  • Work closely with Sr. VP of Winchester Area and Modular Team to communicate goals and align teams towards same vision.
  • Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Other Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Education/Credentials: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Training: Leadership, Distribution, Manufacturing, Estimating, Construction
  • Experience: 10 + years of managing a modular production facility or factory setting.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Manufacturing, Estimating, Accounting, Operations, Process analysis
